Pima Tactical - September

I placed 5th out of 16 Tactical Scope shooters; Jon topped the class and came in 2nd behind the lone Open shooter for the match.

Jon's match video is here.

Good times.

Desert Cat and Daisy Cat also showed up for the fun.

Saloon's Open!

Jon's coming down to the Old Pueblo for tomorrow's Pima Tactical Match, so the "Open" sign goes up on the Saloon. Never mind the dusty wine glasses or the old bottle of vermouth on the bottom shelf; I get out the good stuff for special company. I'd stocked the bar in anticipation of Jon bringing Bob down with him, but Bob's kitchen pass was held up by red tape (the tape that holds the Honey-Do list to the fridge door).

Whatever good stuff we don't polish off I'll probably send back with Jon. Probably.

Or we could just drink beer.

I'm gonna lobby for a Movie Night...I've got about a dozen movies saved up I haven't seen yet, including three B-day flicks from Lil Bro via Amazon (Thanks!).

September Multi-Gun Fun

Lots more long-gunners showed up this month and I actually beat Jon in Carbine! Although Jon's sibling-rivalry-fueled fast-but-sloppy performance moved his scores into the mundane, my own A-zone bonuses on the rifle-only stage drove my score there into negative numbers, something rare enough for me.

Since this match was mostly recycled from previous matches, I probably won't YouTube the video (Jon, Bob, and I will review them at home before next week's Pima Tactical).

I deleted the original graphic because it seemed to have screwed up my template settings.

MI CRC and Stuff

Michigan's September ACTS match was their second annual Combat Rifle Challenge. Twenty-nine shooters vied for the top position in their classes, as well as an ACTS Edition stripped AR receiver for the class winners. More pictures in the Michigan ACTS forum (see the link at right).

Arizona's CRC will be in February (hopefully preparing me for the Superstition 3-Gun in March).

Meanwhile, up in Phoenix, the Cactus League has turned my 4th Sunday Halloween Multi-Gun Fun Match into a two-day sponsored 3-Gun match with an eye towards getting USPSA to recognize it as a regional championship. Those plans must be for the future because the League hasn't even started advertising it.

I whipped up four stages for Sunday's Multi-gun- goodness ...I keep expecting someone to hand in a stack of fresh stage ideas, but I guess it's me again.

Who Needs a Life?

Hours and hours (okay -- DAYS) have been sucked out of my life by life/dating simulations. It all started with Alter Ego ...not only did I have to beat the game (of Life), but I had to explore every avenue of failure as well.

I don't remember who first linked Virtually Date Ariane , but that killed a weekend right there. Some of that was spent downloading the 40-something MB Zip file on my super-slow dial-up, but the rest was spent wooing the shapely brunette Ariane...and exploring the HTML game code. Yes, I have some small bit of code know-how. After Ariane, someone linked 0rgasm Grrl, which was kinda lame, but it introduced me to the Newgrounds web site, a show-and-tell-and-BS website for Flash movie and game developers. I can learn something there! I'm a still a rookie as far as Flash and HTML go, but I have enough skills to recognize goodness when I see it. Here are some of my favorite time-wasters and some other notable toys. None of the links are immediately NSFW, but your mileage may vary.

Virtually Date Ariane
You always remember your first Love. Unlike all the other entries, Date Ariane was written in HTML. After a few days of game play, I searched through the files to discover that many of the pics provided in the download never appear in the game. Bonus! Also unlike the other games, Date Ariane takes you as you are; you make or break the date based on your own decisions...plus, it's the only game where you can get laid on the first date! It's the only date you get.
3-D graphics, rated hard R. Hints here, otherwise, G00gle a walk-through)

Most of the sims on Newgrounds follow the same model: build up your stats and memorize factoids to suit your love-target, shower them with gifts, take them on dates, and try to seduce them. A few have some kind of combat or contest element inside to keep things interesting. While some sims leave the "money shot" to your imagination, others would make pr0nhound American Drumslinger (NSFW) blush. Several of the featured sims borrow from the Hentai cartoon genre (Hentai = "pervert" in Japanese)... personally, I'm a fan of the art form as you may already know, though I'm adamantly opposed to the sexualization of real school girls. All cartoon actresses are 18 years or older, honest!

GANGURO GIRL
This is a Flash-based game whereby the protagonist tries to seduce a shallow "Ganguro Girl" (a pop devotee over-emulating Japanese pr0n idol Ai Iijima, known for her culturallly unusual bottled tan). The game interface is exceptional once you get over the map zoom feature and you even get to play Pong to impress the girl. The finale is well-animated XXX cartoonage. The Ganguro Girl game concept is derived from another developer's SIMGirl with the major difference being GG is a commercially viable finished product.

SIMGirl
The game has romance, sex, violence, car chases, time travellers, a sweeping plot...everything but a real ending. The major dose of deux ex machina diminishes what could have been the best game on the site. My advice: Wait for the developer to finish it... and don't forget to feed the girl locked in your basement!

Twinkle Revue Date (right) borrows graphics from a popular Japanese Hentai series. Instead of fading to black at the bedroom door, the program offers an optional toonXXX ending animated by the developer.

Other Newgrounds games feature Elf girls, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda characters. etc. *Yawn* (I could never get the Final Fantasy game to run on my computer. Too bad... I've always thought Yuna's pretty hot! Heh.)

Special mention goes to Lesson of Passion 2, a leap forward from LoP1, an erotic date sim where you pursue your college biology teacher, played by pr0nstar 4ria 6iovanni. LopP2 includes the Penthouse-type photography of the original but added some sideplots allowing the amoral player to pursue a life of crime and dalliance. The dating interface requires you to recall Aria's factoids, operate a balky camera, and use some mouse dexterity to get the forep1ay right (*^*# squirrelly optical mouse!). Not just a game...you're practically starring in your own cheesy pr0n flick!

Kari 3
And now, for something completely different -- Kari 3 is not really a date sim; she's a sim person, someone to talk to who'll talk back. Her Artificial Intelligence is already programmed to talk dirty to you... but you knew that already, didn't you? The program included several scenes ranging from romantic to surreal to major pr0nage. The program included utilities to manipulate Kari's awareness or to build new scenes. You get a 2-day trial period before you're required to register (for $$), but I think I'll pass on this one. I did use some of the images to practice my Flash animating, though.

Mexican officers arrested at Phoenix gun show

Associated Press
Sept. 12, 2007 02:55 PM
Three high-ranking Mexican police officers face possible federal charges after being accused of buying weapons and ammo at a Phoenix gun show.

Spokesman Tom Mangan of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says it's illegal for non-citizens to purchase firearms.

He says the three arrested men included the director of the Baja California state police and a commander of the federal police in Baja California.

Mangan says the three men had driven to Phoenix in an official police vehicle. He says they were arrested by Phoenix police and ATF agents after buying three handguns and about 450 rounds of ammunition Saturday from a private seller at the gun show.

Mangan says it appears the men were buying the handguns for their personal use.

Two of the men posted $2,000 bond each and were released from jail, while the third was released on his own recognizance.

How Come You Never Bring Me Flowers?

Oh...not whine.

The Saloon has a wine selection, but that doesn't mean I've gone all poofie on y'all. You'll find no products from California or France. The grape is served in the butchest wine glasses you ever saw or in some little beer glasses ripped off from a bar in Korea.

Behold, the end of my insomnia. This week it was the Merlot; this project started out as a self-imposed critical writing project -- I was gonna have a wine-tasting of my favorite low-budget imports, but I figured out that I don't have the tongue or the talent to tell the difference. The two Aussie Merlots taste very similar and the South African Warthog tastes like...Africa. It's not bad -- just very different from the Roo-labeled stuff.

Next week, the Shiraz!

September ACTS

The September ACTS match was a gas, I hear, if lightly attended. Yup...I was a no-show. I figured it would be a bad idea trying to shoot after staying up all night. The match kept a September 11 motif, as seen in the stage descriptions.

Here are some pics taken by HKFreak...who is not the guy pictured with the HK. Full-size pics are available in the Arizona section of the ACTS Forum (see sidebar link).

Aron liked my Trijicon optics set-up (Reflex II) so much, he got one just like it. Now he's gonna kick my ass.

Would have been fun to see if I could beat Scott and his Woo-2 (left) with my Woo-1. Maybe next month.

HKFreak lamented that he couldn't shoot the one match that wasn't an AR-Fest. The other foreign goodies are featured below:

Howdy!

Pardon the posting paucity please. Select the source(s) of scarcity of Saloon sagacity:

A. I've quit drinking (again).

B. I've been drunk off my ass.

C . I've been studying at a Jesuit Seminary and have no intenet connection there.

D. I'm addicted to adult date sims and spent all week playing one to see every possible outcome.

E. I'm actually dating a very demanding woman, and man, I'm tuckered out from all the dancing.

F. Curmudgeonly & Skeptical stopped posting (kinda). Hence as week of almost-silence in his honor.

G. None of the Above.
