Hooftytown Highlights

Actually Sawmill Trail downstream from Beltzville State Park.  Found two sets of these bound roses placed along the trail.  Oh, to know the story...

Interesting tree.

Interesting trees.

Ye Olde Slate Quarry Pond.

I guess the bacteria count is too high for swimming but not too high for fishing on Lake Beltzville.

Ye Olde Covered Bridge at Beltzville SP.

Downstream from Beltzville Dam.

Falls along the trail.

You didn't think I'd take pics of actual Hooftytown itself, did you?  Maybe next year....

Holding Back on Me, Bob?

When the choices are painting one's kitchen or shooting some cool guns, what does Jo do when she found out I'd forgotten to bring some guns out the last time?

She really liked the 9-mm AR.

Gunblogger Duty Done

Meet Jo. Some years ago, she sat on the other side of my high school Journalism class. Three years ago, she received a pistol as a gift, but no instruction or range time. This week I remedied that oversight with some familiarization shooting. Jo tackled everything from a little Bernadelli .22 to a Colt .45 ACP.

A brain fart left my Ruger SP-101 hiding in my lens bag, so Jo got a exclusive diet of automatics.  She did equally well with the GLOCK 19 and 23, but struggled with cocking the stiff recoil spring on the .45. She seemed to enjoy shooting everything I offered and got most hits on the paper plate about 15 feet down range.

Next outing will feature the revolver and a 9-mm carbine.

Tiny, My Hiney!

Photo hoarked from eBay.com
They're stackable, Bro!

I see lots of articles in social media about how the Tiny House Movement is so great; geez, they used to just call them "trailers/mobile homes."  If you want to live in a Conex container, join the Army and feel at home with your housemates.

Me, I want more than a dozen of these, stacked double, insulated and covered in spray-concrete just like most of the new homes in Arizona.  They would connect to towers containing spiral staircases (one would have a cargo elevator instead), and the outside walls would feature a crenelated parapet as a privacy wall for any sunbathing, etc., going on up  there. The towers would be topped with solar panels and quiet vertical windmills.

Who needs windows?  You can have all the windows you want in the inner wall.  Cameras and HD monitors/TVs give a view of the outside world... or the latest NFL game.

Don't even get me starting thinking about the basement!
