Thumpers
Oh, ya might want to turn the sound down/off if you're watching this at work.
Had a good turnout, but we hit the stages at their thinnest; so much so that we had a spare body to video shooters on only two stages. Jon is happy about that after the fact; he eschewed the kneepad for You Know Squat, then dropped to a knee anyway. The results were six penalties that will add 30 seconds to his stage time...I snuck a pic for posterity after the stage was taped.
Update: Results were posted! Jim just squeaked ahead of me near the bottom of the 17 carbine entries. We were the only two shooting .308 Heavy Metal. Jon placed third using his muy fast Bushmaster .223.
I was second out of five Limited (Pump) Riotgunners. Jon had the second best time of nine Auto gunners in one stage, but his Squat stage dropped him to second worst.
It turned out that there were many more multi-gunners than normal; I recognized most of the extras as Superstition 3-Gun regulars. I guess they are practicing for the Big Match like we are.
BOG 2 Lives!
Perhaps keep an eye on AR15.com for a sneak peek.
"Thumper Junior" aside, I've never assigned a gender or pet name to a firearm before, but this one's definitely a female. She's been spending my money like nobody's business. I sure hope when she puts out, it's been worth it.
Well, she better put out!
Yeah, Ladies, I'm a pig.

My Upper's Here!
Wow, that "10 to 12 weeks to shipping" the company quoted me was, happily, not very accurate. The only downer to this scenario is that I won't have a finished rifle until my other shipment arrives. Sure, I could scavenge a few parts off my other AR platforms to get this one into action quickly...but I'm in no hurry. I'm shooting Thumper Junior (SOCOM-16) this weekend (and for every match until the Superstition 3-Gun in March).
But after then...my shooting buddy Jon just happened to catch the Build an AR Bug(aloo) independently of myself (yeah, right), but instead of building a lower from scratch, he picked one out at the factory and ordered an upper -- from the same company where I ordered mine! It should be interesting to see how similar our projects turn out. Good Gun Blog material!
I suspect this summer's match schedule will feature prominently my BOG 2 and his fancy pants city cousin in several venues.

Goose Creek police officer arrested in burglary
A 44-year-old Goose Creek [South Carolina] police officer was arrested and charged with burglary Wednesday, authorities said.
A State Law Enforcement Division investigation requested by the Goose Creek Police Department resulted in the 8 a.m. arrest of Sgt. William Ellis, according to a SLED news release.
Ellis, of Goose Creek, was booked into the Berkeley County Detention Center. He is charged with burglary in the second degree with intent to commit larceny and official misconduct.
Ellis is accused in a warrant of entering a Subway restaurant in Goose Creek around 2:50 a.m. Dec. 29 and breaking into a safe and cash register. The intruder was captured on video surveillance.
I have it from another source that "he was identified from the video within one day... because when the genius committed the crime, he was on duty... and wearing his police uniform."

I Suck at Mail Order
But I don't want the carbine stuff!
Looks like the free butt stock is going in the spare parts pile...rather than send the DPMS parts back, I ordered a full A2 stock as part of another order I was going to make anyway.
So...maybe I'll save it all for BOG 3....

SCREW UPS
"Receiver not available for signature?!?!?!"
I've been HOME all freaking day!!!
The best I can figure is that Big Brown came by during my short noontime nap and meekly rapped on my front door. I have a very loud doorbell; I cannot believe it would ever fail to wake me.

Winter is for Other People
Geez, it's still coming down. Good thing I'm just sitting at home watching football, slurping rum and coke, and thanking the heavens that I don't need to drive in this.
And how am I supposed to clear out all those weeds when they have snow on them!?

Cool Droppings!
FWIW, my ROK grunts won a 2:1 Draw last night. Lots of landing casualties don't help when some of your troopers land in the middle of the enemy's armored response force!
Tonight: Indonesian paratroops and commandos try to recapture their Highlands from the filthy Australian invaders!
