We're the Only Ones Sneaky Enough
Goose Creek police officer arrested in burglary
A 44-year-old Goose Creek [South Carolina] police officer was arrested and charged with burglary Wednesday, authorities said.
A State Law Enforcement Division investigation requested by the Goose Creek Police Department resulted in the 8 a.m. arrest of Sgt. William Ellis, according to a SLED news release.
Ellis, of Goose Creek, was booked into the Berkeley County Detention Center. He is charged with burglary in the second degree with intent to commit larceny and official misconduct.
Ellis is accused in a warrant of entering a Subway restaurant in Goose Creek around 2:50 a.m. Dec. 29 and breaking into a safe and cash register. The intruder was captured on video surveillance.
I have it from another source that "he was identified from the video within one day... because when the genius committed the crime, he was on duty... and wearing his police uniform."

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if further investigation doesn't show that the officer was trying to foil a plot to rob the store, so he took the money for safekeeping. His suspension with pay is over and he has resumed his duties with diligence and dedication.
Sadly, that ain't much of a stretch.
