Why NOT laugh? Especially when their handicap is self-inflicted.
People like that look so clown-ish, it's difficult not to laugh at them. They do it to themselves for attention. It just may not be the right attention that they want.

I forget who told me this, but Goth (is that what she is?) was invented to make ugly people appear interesting.
