Here's a challenge to you Gun Gamers out there. If you have a cop friend whose only pistol practice is over a box of ammo at an indoor shooting range lane, invite him or her to your IPSC/IDPA/Whatever match. Offer to spring for ammo and/or match fees, but encourage the officer to gun the match in duty gear. He or she might not pick up the sport, but might pick up some life-saving insights into better practice.
