Happy 1911 Day!
On this day in 1911, the US Army adopted the design of wily super-genius, St. John Moses Browning (PBUH), the Model 1911 .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol.
Both outstanding choices, although I believe Utah's choice was due more to JMB's association with the state than any inherent attributes of the weapon. Odd that the decision to designate a state gun at all, on the part of either state, isn't still causing anguished moans from the blue states!

Do you know that the 1911 is, as of this year, the Utah state gun? We have good taste out here.
