Don't Try This At Home

Closing out this series, and my blogging day, is this unsigned piece. The subject appears to be obeying all the Rules of Gun Safety. She's treating the gun as if it is loaded, she's probably kept her finger off the trigger until she's ready to fire (who wants to die deaf?), and she hasn't pointed the weapon at anything she's not prepared to destroy. She's sure of her target, though we must assume she's scoped out downrange to determine no bystanders are in danger.

Remember folks, Gun Safety is serious business; art is not. We lost a lot by eradicating all cartoon violence on Saturday morning. We lost the opportunity to talk to our children and tell them "If you hit your sister on the head with a frying pan, her head will NOT conform to the shape of the pan, then spring back to shape." As if today's parents even talk to their kids while the Glowing Electronic Babysitter is on. If they did, they could teach their children that almost everything on TV is fake--and teach them values, right from wrong, and "Hey, let's go outside and play instead!"
