Sorry, FAIL in my book...
One of the easiest ways to improve a cinderblock wall's structural strength is to fill the cavities with mortar and set rebar vertically and horizontally...and it's conceivable that a block, confined and structurally loaded (in compression) would react differently from a single block not mortared to surrounding blocks...compression effectively increases the strength of things like pre- or post-tensioned concrete structures...bridges, lintels, etc. While what you're doing looks like fun, it really proves nothing...try again. If you want to know whether a block wall provides protection, use a real block wall.
My credentials? Civil Engineer, retired military, and gun hobbyist...who also like to shoot up things to see how they react.
