Might try this next year
I MapQuested my road trip points for the first time last night and got a route more than 100 miles shorter than the I-10/20/30/40/81 route I've been taking for years. Might be worth trying next year.
Yep, MapQuest is a crapshoot. First time I used it was going from northeastern Iowa to Tampa and it took me right to the very door I was looking for. Then again it can't get me across town most times but like them French offer, say la vee.
You can chat in gridlock with the diligent PennDoT workers leaning on their shovels in the perpetual 300-mile construction zone commonly referred to as I-80.

I used Mapquest last week to get me to a location on 36th Ave in Phoenix. It had me getting off on 68th.
For a drive of the distance you traveled, I wouldn't fuss about 100 miles, but to each his own.
