Crypto-Thing 6

Update: C'mon folks, The Trainer's pulling his punches to give y'all a chance! This one ain't hard!

Update Update: Trainer must be anxious for Crypto Thing 7:

Answer:
Alvin York, Audie Murphy, "Chesty" Puller, John Levitow, Randall Shughart, Paul Smith

All famous heroes, all MOH-winners, except Chesty Puller, whose five Navy Crosses kinda make up for that.

Airman Levitow might not be famous outside the USAF, but until PJ William Pitsenbarger's AF Cross was upgraded to the MOH, Johnny L. was the only enlisted airman of the Vietnam War to wear the blue starry ribbon.

Well, he'd be close if he could string together two in a row; once the motif is discovered, the rest are easier.

Alvin (the chipmunk) York (the city)
    Audie (Audi) Murphy (Brown)
    Chesty (Yikes) Puller (dent)
John Levitow (Porta-Potty + sounds like Lovett + TOW missile)
Randall (Tony) Shughart (Shoe + cart)
    (St.) Paul + (black) Smith

All MOH winners except Chesty how got 5 Navy Crosses.

Actually I first thought it was a phrase beginning with "A barrett..."

The Audi is a TT model, and Alvin has an "A" on his chest. I spent a lot of time looking for a city named Barre with a cathedral like that pictured.
