Yep! I know them well. they're short range radio transmitters hooked to seismic detectors. You spread them out in the jungle and then drop in an (I'm NOT kidding) ARFBUOY to receive these signals and re-transmit them on a different frequency with MORE power.
They were developed in the late 60's and used in some conflict in
Southeast Asia...
WE were told they're camouflaged as monkey droppings, but I know dogsh*t when I see it...
