Book Report: Off Road

A book report during Winter Break? But I'm on VACATION! Oh, wait, a book review! And it's a free book sent by a fellow blogger! And it doesn't have guys rocketing around in armored suits with endless supplies of missiles and rocket fuel! Not that there's anything wrong with that....

The blurb under the title telegraphs the punch of this book, but Steve entertains and moves with his words, following a self-absorbed urban professional as he returns to his trailer park roots and begins concurrent odysseys; a character journey to find himself, and an off-road jaunt up and down a mountain with his estranged Dad and little brother.

Steve captures the beauty of the Colorado Rockies and the human urge to commune with them. Or conquer them from the driver's seat. The reader can see the high drama coming at them like a charging Hummer with a whip antenna, but the read is worth it. This is the first novel of its kind on my bookshelf, but it won't be the last, even if I have to pay for the sequel myself!
