My Only Say on Illegal Immigration
Okay...one more say. Today, I went to the same place to get my oil changed as I have for nine years. I'm not chummy with any of the guys there, but I kinda expect some of the same people to be there each time, like the old guy usually on the cash register who had a moustache made for SASS. I went in today, handed my keys to a kid who must have been just short of his 20s...and no Old Guy in the office. Just a bunch of Mextype guys whose English I could barely understand. I gave the register guy the wrong amount at first because he said "thirty" and I heard "twenty"--he could have said "Bite me, Gringo," but in the context of paying for the oil change, I thought "twenty" was closest. Another came in to talk to a lady...I could only understand a third of what the guy was saying, and the lady picked out the keyword "differential" and decided "no, thanks" and told her daughter that "Daddy would figure it out." That's when I wondered...price of an oil change went up a little bit...the Old Guy is gone, non-native Tucsonans abound (normal Hispanic dwellers of the Old Pueblo can rip off a Spanish dialog that'd make Vinnie Fox blush, then transition into something that anyone in Indiana could grok)...did they fire the Old Guy (and all the other gringos) and hire a bunch of illegals so that rising oil prices wouldn't drive people away from their business?
Don't make me weed my own yard, muchachos!

I have no IDEA where you live, but I could swear you were in Dallas, off of Preston and Beltline on Friday.
You pretty much described my Oil-Change experience to a "T".
Some guy who understands and speaks less english than my cats told a lady she needed her differential oil changed. She was driving a Honda Accord that is a front wheel drive, and HAS no differential. I told her that and she politely declined the service.
After that, I watched everyone like a HAWK when they changed my oil, praying to God that they didn't put windshield wiper fluid in my engine.
I have no problem with people wanting to come to this country to make their lives better. I can even get over people doing it illegally. It just bothers me that they don't feel the need to become part of our society, learn our language, or become Americans.
