Cowboy Blob, Internet Resource to the Stars

The cheesy B-movie stars, that is. Sitemeter showed me some interesting hits from FaceBook this week; apparently the movers and stars of Ghost Rock found my review of the movie and had some fun with it (see the comments for some words from star and screenwriter Michael Worth, allegedly). I'm glad he stopped by and shared his thoughts. I hear he's doing better. But only 23 fans since November, Michael?

Birthday Spankings

Yay!  Jon turned "22 Twice" this weekend, so after the match, we took him out to Red Robin's for a gourmet burger and a beer.  Carl (left) was Jon's mentor in high school, but Jon turned the tables when it came to instruction in Practical Marksmanship.  Carl did a mighty fine job with Jon's M1A and did decent work with Jon's Glock 34... with Jon's Benelli, he suffered like the rest of us.

Jon got some Birthday attention for his depleted liquor cabinet, which may come into play during the next weekend. We're doing the AZ Civilian Defense League 4th of July Rifle Match, plus some AD&D action afterwards (if I can stay awake).  I should be drinking coffee instead of Scotch, especially since I'm running the game.

Saturday Night Shuffle

2,000 to 2,499 kB

I've been avoiding my Logic homework until tomorrow, but my Writing II research paper looms and that involves more reading than writing. It's critical writing, requiring one or two schools of literary critical thought on a piece of our choice that was assigned for reading during this semester. My selection is Tim O'Brien's Vietnam war short story "The Things That They Carried" (we hadn't even been assigned to read it intil this week, but I read it for pleasure when I saw it on the list) and I'll be using the biographical and socio-historic schools of criticism to answer the burning question, "WTF? Didn't that LT have any g*ddamned NCOs in his freakin' platoon?"

I'll try to word that a little more academically.

1. Bush - Swim
2. Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love
3. Def Leppard - Love Bites
4. Elton John - Honky Cat
5. Madonna - Justify my Love
6. Steve Winwood - My Love's Leavin'
7. Nazareth - Star (My high school buddy Ralph and I wore out his copy of No Mean City, a totally kick-ass album that didn't seem to catch on the states. Looking for the DVD, I could only find a foreign copy. Ya think the album cover affected our perception?)
8. Blondie- Rapture
9. J. Geils Band - Musta Got Lost
10. Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet
11. Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2 - Live)
12. Walter Murphy - A Fifth of Beethoven
13. Bob Seger - Hollywood Nights
14. Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime
15. Free - All Right Now
16. Heart - Even it Up
17. Queensryche - Best That I Can
18. Elton John - Don't Let the Sun Go Down Me
19. Patsy Cline - Who's Sorry Now?
20. Led Zeppelin - Gallows Pole

Wow, no embarrassing ABBA this time! Of course, I stopped at 20. Couldn't take any chances. (I jumped through the next five tracks without hitting any of the schmaltzy Rhino Records tunes I've got. Hurray for me!)

New Ice Cream Flavor

In honor of the 44th President of the United States, Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor: “Barocky Road." Barocky Road is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes. The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. The nuts and flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow.

The cost is $100.00 per scoop. When purchased it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but then the ice cream is taken away and given to the person in line behind you. You are left with an empty wallet and no change, holding an empty cone with no hope of getting any ice cream.

Are you stimulated?

Sunday Shuffle

Haven't even started on my Intro to Logic homework yet and already I've succumbed to two nap attacks... this after drinking real coffee this morning! I've got some green sun tea brewing on the back porch. That'll keep me wired tonight, I'm sure.

Instead of selecting a chunk of the alphabet to play on the Shuffle, I just sorted by size, then highlighted every Mp3 from 1,000 to 2,000 kB. Good mix!

1. ZZ Top - Heard it on the X
2. Lindsay Buckingham - Say We'll Meet Again
3. Mahogany Rush - Sister Change
4. Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down to Georgia
5. Charlie Daniels Band - In America
6. Orleans - Dance with Me
7. Indigo Girls - Kid Fears
8. Stevie Nicks - After the Glitter Fades
9. Santana - Evil Ways
10. Joe Stampley - If You Don't Know Me By Now
11. Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion
12. Alanis Morissette - Would Not Come
13. Linda Ronstadt - Hurts So Bad
14. Spyro Gyra - Limelight
15. Doobie Brothers - Long Train Runnin'
16. Rush - Bastille Day
17. Alan O'Day - Undercover Angel
18. Bangles - Where Were You When I Needed You?
19. Crosby, Stills, and Nash - I Give You Blind
20. Billy Joel - She's Always a Woman to Me
21. Cinderella - Gypsy Road
22. Dr. Hook - A Little Bit More
23. Journey - Send Her My Love
24. Judas Priest - Parental Guidance
25. ABBA - Take a Chance on Me
